Original Oil Paintings by Karla Harby

Artist's Statement
Art Says Something.
I make original oil paintings so I can contemplate my love for nature. When I discover something that moves me, I paint the scene or objects so I can hold them close, yet still share my feelings about them with others.
My subjects are landscapes, animals, and my arrangements of still life. My style ranges from realism to impressionism.
I paint mostly with plant-based oils and solvents such as walnut oil, oil of spike lavender, and oil of clove. These materials were used by the Old Masters who didn't have the petroleum-based products that are so common today. My plant-based oils are archival and have proven to endure for centuries.
I accept commissions within my subject areas.
