Karla Harby grew up in suburban Detroit but spent more than 20 years in the New York City area as a freelance journalist and science writer. Because of her voice and sense of time, her professors at Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism urged her to pursue a broadcast career instead of working in print. But Karla stayed with print, and her work was published worldwide by Reuters and many other publishers. Before leaving New York for the Rockies, Karla studied voiceover with a private coach and obtained her certificate in improvisational comedy from the Upright Citizens Brigade. She also worked as a flutist and band leader for private events and NYC clubs. These days she lives in Denver with her husband and their two dogs and cat.
